Swimming

For kiwi sport we were learning about basic swimming skills. My coach name was Kelly.

First we swimed back and fourth to the end of the pool with flat boards. Then we did a streamline steps then we had to make our arms straight then roll front to back.

Then we used pool noodles and do side strokes and played toilet tag.

I really had fun at the pools and I can't wait to go back.

Puncuation

For writing we learned about punctuation. We had to understand what each punctuation
meant.

There were two task to complete. The first task we did was to identify the punctuation. We had to match the meaning with the correct punctuation and what it looked like.

The next task was to use all punctuation using in a small amount of sentences. There was 11 punctuations. This challenge really helped me with my punctuation. I finished all the punctuation in three sentences.

I enjoyed this task because it really helped me
understand with punctuation.

Solving Strategies

Our 2 week math session was based around using multiple strategies to solve different math problems.

Problems 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 were solved using Simple Addition, Written Algorithm, Counting Forward, Number line, Place Value, Skip Counting, Subtraction, Groups and Multiplication.

For the number line on problem 6 we added 10 to 10 to make 20, then add 5 to make 25. We were also able to use tally lines to find the answer.

For problem 7 we knew 30 divided by 5 could be solved using place value. We did 3+2=5, 10x3=30 and 30 divided by 5=6.

I had fun solving math strategies and I wait to do this again.

LI: to practice a range of strategies to solve equations using all four operations.

Idioms

This week for reading we were explaining different idioms. An idiom is a phrase that means something different to what it usually means.

We picked 2 idioms which was: By the skin of your teeth and don't judge a book by it's cover.

After we picked two idioms we wrote a script and created videos to explain the idioms we chose visually.

I enjoyed this activity and I will do it again.

Food Storage Preservation

This week I learnt about food storage and preservation. We first learnt that perseverance is keeping something at its normal state and storage is keeping something safe

I learnt to identify the text types of 14 different texts. To do this I learnt the structure the tense and the person of each text type.

After identifying the text types I moved on to writing the authors purpose. An authors purpose could be different to the text type. We covered the questions what is the text for and what is the author trying to do.

Next I rated the the texts from 1 to 5. One had no useful information that we needed. Rating five had information we need its purpose is for informing its from a reliable source and it is current.

L.I. to gather information from multiple texts.
