This week, we translated object words and places into maori.
For Maori we filled in questions that our teachers made.
The questions were about positions and locations.
The questions Involved us writing sentences like this: Kei ___ I te ___. Where we'd had to fill in the gaps.
We used words like mua kumete and much more.
I enjoyed this because it reminded us words like these.

I traslated maori words into engish words.
First I made a google draw to put the translated words on and put borders on to put the words in groups.
Next I traslated the maori words.
Lastly I put the words on the draw and into the right boxes and put right next to it the maori words.
I learnt lots of new words from this.
I did an task based on questions.
I first wrote the start of the question. For eample: Kei heaand te ___.
Then I put my answer. For example: Kei raro i te pene.
Finally I took photos of it and put onto a google slide.
This task was sort of hard because I forgot what the words means.

Next we had our group lesson. In our lesson we revised words like: maui and matau.
lastly we went over about our questions and answers.

For our Maori lesson we revised words that we learnt before.
First we did a task about kitchen items. This task was about us labeling 10 kitchen items in Maori.
The words were raro, runga and anei. Raro meaning under, Runga meaning above and and anei meaning here.
After that we learned how to say "Kei hea te ___."and "Kei ___ I te ___."
I enjoyed this lesson because it reminded us words we learnt before.

We learned how to tell people to pass something to the left in Maori.
In our lesson we revised the three words we lerned last week. The words were tenei, tena and tera.
After that we learned how to say "hoatu te ___ ki te taha maui" meaning "pass the ___ to the person on your left."
I had a good time doing this even though it was hard,
I learnt about prepositions.
A prepositions was he pukapuka tenei (pukapuka meaning book and tenei meaning here.)
Another one is he pene tena (pene meaning pen and tena meaning there.)
Another preposition is he turu tera (Turu meaning chair and tera meaning over there.)
I enjoy learning new things.
I learnt Maori versions of classroom questions with Fire Odie.
One of the questions was kua marama which means do you understand. Another one of the questions was kua matu which means are you finished.
I need to practice on my maori questions more.

Mihi Whakatau is a maori term for a formal greeting.
Mihi Whakatau is traditionally used for welcoming, introductions and openings. It is undertaken by the Tangata Whenua (local inhabitants)
The Mihi needs to acknowledge the significant aspects to the place. The Maunga (mountain), Awa (river) and Iwi (tribe) that are generally used.
Introducing Ingoa (name), Oku tipuna (ancestored place) and where you live is important for the audience to understand the position of the speaker.
Manuhiri is the term used to describe a group/visitors that are being welcomed.
It is important to end with a warm welcome so the visitors know that there is no hostility in the 2 groups being together.
Being respectful of the land, the people and the purpose of a visit will ensure long lasting relationships and connections.

My name is Paul. I am Tongan. I am in LS1 at Panmure Bridge School. I enjoy drawing and reading.
This week for Te Reo Maori we did a task called Kupu.
In the task we learnt different words. For example Kaumatua means boring and Waka means vehicle.
We had to look in the maori dictionary for the English version of Maori words.
This helps us learn more Maori words.
L.I to learn new words in Maori.
This week for maori we learned about body parts.
The maori activity was called te tinana. We learned how to say different types of body parts in moari for example: head means upoko and stomach means puku. In the task we also highlighted the ones we know blue and the ones we searched black.
The activity was fun and hard for me because there were lots of words I didn't know.
