Mental Heath Challage 4

We did a task based on what were greatful for.

First I thought about what I am thankful for.

Next I made a google doc to list down the things I am thankful for.

Lastly I wrote all of it down.

I enjoy this task because reminds me about what I should be greatful for.

Mental Heath

I did an activity based on mental heath. We had to ask some one older to us about music they liked when they were our age.

First I asked my mum about the music she liked when she was my age.

Next I thought of songs I liked.

Then I made a google draw to list it on.

I like this task because I like music.

Olympics

I completed an activity about the Olympics.

First I wrote down the motto, Creed and Values and put the logos on a google draw from the

Olympics and PBS. The Olympics motto is faster, Stronger and Taller and PBS motto is Strive and Achieve.

The Olympics creed is the most important thing is not to win but to take part just as the most important

thing in life is not the trumpet but the struggle and PBS is Manaaki whenua, Manaaki tangata, Haere

whakamua (Care for the land, care for the people, go forward).  The Olympics logo is 5 rings coloured in

black, red, blue , green and yellow, and the PBS logo is a white bridge with a red background. The

Olympics values are friendship, excellence and respect and PBS is confidence, attitude, excellence and respect.

Afterwards we made a slide to tell the similarities and differences about it.

To finish up we made our own logo and made our own motto.

Toy Tech

For lnquiry we designed a party popper.

First we talked about the parts of the party popper. The parts were a: Rubber band, Plastic cup, Folded paper, Confetti and the top of a toothpick.

Next we talked about what the parts are for like: The rubber band is used to sling the rubber band up.

Then we thought about different design options like changing the plastic cup into a paper one because a paper cup is stronger.

Finally we wrote down the reasons why we changed the design.

I liked this task because I learnt how toy makers design different toys.

The Three Similar Simple machines

Simple machines help people do work faster. There are 3 similar simple machines. Those machines are the incline plane, the lever and the wedge.

The incline plane helps people move something easier. The lever helps people lift heavy objects. The wedge is used to cut an object.

Simple Machines.

We found 6 simple machines that we used in school.

There are different machines like: The lever, incline plane, wegde, wheel and axel, pully and screw.

The lever can be used in a chair. The lever can lift the chair or lower the chair.

The incline plane can be used in a pathway. The incline plane can be used when going up a hill.

We found a wegde in our school hall. A wedge can be used to cut a object.

The wheel and axel can be used when riding a bike when going to school.

The pully can be used to pull up or down your school flag.

The screw can used to hold two materials at once like: wood and metal.

Simple Machines

Simple machines are tools that help move an object.

There are 6 different machines for example: Pully, axel and wheel, inclined plane, wegde, screw and lever.

The pully lifts up heavy weight.

The axel and wheel helps transport different materials.

The incline plane helps people go up without them using the stairs while they're holding lots of stuff.

The wedge helps people cut objects in half.

The screw helps hold two materials.

The lever helps us move something thats heavy.

These 6 machine are still used today to move objects.

Ls1's Treaty

We learned about the three P's  in the Treaty of Waitangi and how they apply to our learning.

First Mr Ogilvie introuduced the three P's in the Treaty of Waitangi. They are protection, partnership and participation.

Then in groups we wrote statement about the three P's in Ls1. Ls1 figured out the three P's are all connected.

After that we used our group ideas and thought about how they connected to me.

I chose these three statements because they help me be successful with my learning. I will get better at not talking to my friends when learning.

Keeping it cold and warm

Insulators are used to stop heat from moving place to place. Five materials were tested for the ability to insulate: glass, plastic, metal, paper and polystyrene.

The best Insulator materials for keeping things warm was polystyrene, plastic, metal and paper and the ones that were bad were glass.

The best Insulator materials for keeping things cool was metal and paper and the ones that were bad were plastic, polystyrene.

The best Insulator materials for both were metal and paper.

Inquiry exparament

This week we did an experiment about absorbing water. When I got into a group one of my

partners first got an empty tray and my other partner got their chrome book to record the

experiment. After my partner got an empty tray they poured water into a beaker up to 100

millimeters and put 5 drops of food coloring into the water. After my partner was done pouring

water up to 100 millimeters I got 50 grams of cotton.

When we were all done getting our materials we were ready to do the experiment. When we were

doing the experiment we first had to fold the cotton and then we had to be very careful of pouring

the water on to the cotton and also we also had to give the cotton a little time to absorb.

When the cotton was finished absorbing we poured the left over water into the beaker we used, then we measured the left over water from the beaker and our results were 4ml not absorbed 96ml absorbed.

The experment we did was fun but it was also messy I hope to do this another time because I had so much fun doing it.

Maritime Museum

L.I. to study the history of NZ maritime explorers

We went to the maritime museum to find out about maritime explorers.

I saw lots of boats like kayaks and waka.

I found out that Sir Peter Blake was the best New Zealand sailor.

I watched a video about the first explorers coming to Aotearoa.

I enjoyed learning about things I never knew before.

Moon Paragraphing

The Moon

Image result for moon
Site / PUBLIC DOMAIN  / Live Science
The moon is small and it goes around the earth in an oval orbit.
Also when you are in space you need a space helmet to breathe because there is no air. The moon controls the water and the tides on Earth. Neil Armstrong worked for NASA and he was the first person to walk on the moon. The moon has phases and my favorite one is a half moon.
