Basic Facts

 I completed the speed demon challenge on additions up to 10 My time was 4 minutes and 41 seconds. My score was 100 out of 100. Next time I will go up to 20.

Mobile Puzzle

 Moblie puzzels is a game where you try to figure out how much a shape is.

While thinking and calculating how much the shapes are, you have to try a make both of the shapes even.

Here is an example:






One square equals 55, so two squares will equals 110 : (110 x 110= 220)

One triangle equals 5.  220+5=225. So the answer is 225.

One triangle equals 56. 56 + 56 =112. So the answer is 112.

Fractions

This week we Identifyed fractions.

Fractions are a whole divided into numorus equal pieces.

Fractions include something call a numerator and a denominator.

The denominator is the number under the numerator. It shows you how much pieces there are.

The numerator is the number above the denominator. It shows you how much pieces you have.

This task was easy because some of the gaps were filled in.

Distence Learning

 We used place value to solve an equation.

First we start by adding the ones together 4+6=10+7 =17.

Next we add the tens which are 20+20+10=50. Now we add the answers together 17+50=67.

Now we know that she practised for 67 minutes. So now we subtract 67 from 90. 0-7 is impossible to do so we do 10-7=3. 

Lastly we do 80-60=20 then we add it together which equals 23 so Leilani needs to practise for another 23 minutes.

I didn't really know what to do so I looked at other peoples and tried getting my own understanding of it.

Skip counting and repeated addition

I learnt about skip counting and repeated addition.

First we did an equation. The equation was Sam has 7 five dollars notes. How much money does he have? By using repeated addition I can make It easier to read but It will be slower.

Multiplication answer 5x7= 35 .

Repeated addition answer: 5+5+5+5+5+5+5+5= 35.


Next we did another equation. Mike was at the beach for five days and collected 14 seashells to keep each day. How many seashells did Mike collect over his entire beach trip?

By using skip counting I can also solve this faster (Still multiplication)

Multiplication answer: 5x14=70. Repeated addition answer 14+14+14+14+14=70.


Finally we skipped counted in our books the 6, 7, 8, 9 and 12 times tables up to ten.


I learned a lot about multiplication and different ways on how to solve math equations.

Flip, Slide and Turn

There are 3 different types of movements. Those 3 movments are flip, rotate and tranlation.

A flip/reflection is turning over in another direction.


A rotate/turn is something turning in different directions.

A translation is moving something or someone to a new position.

Calendars

 Calendars show us the day, week and months.

There are 12 months in a year, they are; January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November and December.

Months have 28, 30 or 31 days.

There are number patterns in a calendar by looking for four connecting days for example 20, 60 and 100.


Knowing before and after a number sequnce and 7 timestables it helps us read a calendar

Multplication

Multiplication is a fast way of adding up the same numbers. The two, five and ten times tables are an example of multiplication.

The two times tables are multiplying two by a number of groups.

The five times tables are multiplying five by a number of groups.

The ten times tables are multiplying ten by a number of groups.

The time tables are a basic way to remember basic multiplication equations. The next times tables to learn are three, four and six.

Place value and saying numbers

 Place value is a system that groups numbers based on thier size.

The position of a digit determins it value. When we say numbers we group them within the same house. For exaple 15709 has fifteen thousands seven hundred and nine ones.


Understanding our base 10 place value system allows us to pronounse big numbers properly. It also allows us to identify numbers before or after.

Prototec

This week I did a can-do called prototec.


First Mr Wong introduced us to prototec and told us how to get to it. On prototec there are six different stages: 2-3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8.


After Mr Wong introduced us to It we went on it and gave it a try. I had to do sixth stage because I was a year six.


Then we posted our results on a google slide. I got 10 out of the 40 questions wrong.


I made lots of mistakes, and I need to improve on my 1000's.

Basic Facts Sheets

I created a basic facts chart using Google Sheets. 

I learned about number bonds and doubles by using some uni-link cubes.

First I used the uni-link cubes to show the number bonds and doubles.

Next I recorded the results on the Google Sheet.


I then used the copy and paste to finish the chart faster.


I learned new number bonds for 20.

The math behind Rugby

Maths is used in almost every job. The jobs that use maths a lot are: medicine, science, engineering and more. Some jobs don't use maths a lot, they can just use basic addition or multiplication.

In Rugby you can use statistics, counting and measurement.


For statistics you can just do the collecting data part of it, you can collect data like how fast your opponents are and how slow they are and you can see the most areas that people don't go to. For counting you can see how much points your team has and when the timer is going to end. For measuring you can measure how far you need to run and how long you need to pass.


It is important to be good at statistics because if you go to an area with a really fast person and you don’t know, they might take the ball off you and score with it. It is important to be good at counting because if a black out happens and you forget what the score is, both of the teams might have to do that all again and get exhausted. It is important to be good at measuring because if you don’t know how long you need to throw you might throw the ball to an opponent.
