Brainstorm

I brainstormed ideas for a persuasive speech.

First I watched two persuasive videos about planning and brainstorming. Then I made a google doc to record my ideas. Then we used a table to categorize the ideas.

Later we made a circle to share our ideas. We had to think of 15 ideas 5 in each of the three columns we made. The columns being self, others and world.

To finish up we used the traffic light system. The traffic light system is used to rate my ideas.

Red meaning it can't be used, Yellow meaning it's ok and green meaning it's great.

Next  time I want to rate something I will use the traffic light system.

Skip counting and repeated addition

I learnt about skip counting and repeated addition.

First we did an equation. The equation was Sam has 7 five dollars notes. How much money does he have? By using repeated addition I can make It easier to read but It will be slower.

Multiplication answer 5x7= 35 .

Repeated addition answer: 5+5+5+5+5+5+5+5= 35.

Next we did another equation. Mike was at the beach for five days and collected 14 seashells to keep each day. How many seashells did Mike collect over his entire beach trip?

By using skip counting I can also solve this faster (Still multiplication)

Multiplication answer: 5x14=70. Repeated addition answer 14+14+14+14+14=70.

Finally we skipped counted in our books the 6, 7, 8, 9 and 12 times tables up to ten.

I learned a lot about multiplication and different ways on how to solve math equations.

Then we made a poster about it. Persuasion is a type of opinion. Opinions are what you think, feel or believe about something. Persuading means to convince a person.

Olympics

I completed an activity about the Olympics.

First I wrote down the motto, Creed and Values and put the logos on a google draw from the

Olympics and PBS. The Olympics motto is faster, Stronger and Taller and PBS motto is Strive and Achieve.

The Olympics creed is the most important thing is not to win but to take part just as the most important

thing in life is not the trumpet but the struggle and PBS is Manaaki whenua, Manaaki tangata, Haere

whakamua (Care for the land, care for the people, go forward).  The Olympics logo is 5 rings coloured in

black, red, blue , green and yellow, and the PBS logo is a white bridge with a red background. The

Olympics values are friendship, excellence and respect and PBS is confidence, attitude, excellence and respect.

Afterwards we made a slide to tell the similarities and differences about it.

To finish up we made our own logo and made our own motto.
